Top Of The World

8 mountain passes in 4 days/3 nights

8 mountain passes in 4 days! The Rocky Mountains are the backbone of Colorado. The Top of the World Tour goes where buses and large commercial vehicles cannot. View the mountain range from above it all, while breathing crisp mountain air! Leave your worries to a highly experienced, professional driver.

Your private 4-day/3-night tour begins in the Denver area. We travel the scenic road over our first mountain pass over the Continental Divide. Continuing into Vail gives us time to explore the Vail Village area shops and galleries before enjoying dinner in a local and highly rated restaurant. The second day takes us through the town of Leadville and into Twin Lakes before heading up and over Independence Pass. The first road into Aspen delivered explorers over the steep mountain pass following the route of mule trains. This paved road drops us directly into the town of Aspen. The hotel is either in Aspen or Snowmass, depending on availability. Dinner is at a highly rated local restaurant.

Our third day follows the Crystal River, then up a pass blanketed in aspen trees, providing panoramic views of some of the State’s most dramatic wilderness area. Our next pass summits at 10,007 feet above sea level, passing through the Gunnison National Forest and is best known as one of the premiere spots to be blown away by the fall aspens as its home to one of the largest aspen groves in the United States. At the end of day, land in Crested Butte for an incredible dinner of tapas fit for a hungry king.

The final day takes us back over the Continental Divide. The colors are remarkable on this high mountain pass, peaking around 500’ above tree line. From the top, you’re afforded 360 degree views of two distinct water sheds. It’s especially spectacular each autumn for the fall foliage. In addition, it is the highest paved pass over the Continental Divide in the nation at 12,126’, beating Independence Pass by 31’.

Eight breathtaking mountain passes in 4 days makes this a truly unforgettable experience. As always with a private tour, daytime activities may be adjusted to reflect our guests’ desires. This tour is only available while the passes are open for the season, usually Memorial Day through mid-October
